Important things to remember on your removal day
Please get you items as close to the exit as possible before the drivers arrival, please do not block any doors / access points, please try to keep the items in the order they will need to be loaded into the van, this is:
1st. Flat or freestanding Items (Mirrors, Frames, ironing boards, standing lamps, clothes horse etc).
2nd. Furniture Items eg: Chest of drawers, sofa, table, chairs, bedside tables etc.
3rd. Closed boxes & Suitcases (boxed sized objects).
4th. Bags & holdalls.
About boxes
Please close and seal all of your boxes, boxes left open with items protruding are awkward and can be dangerous. If an item will not fit in a box please do not try to squeeze it in, bubblewrap it separately.
Please do not overload your boxes, if they are too heavy for you to lift then the likelyhood is they are too heavy for our driver to lift and may result in you having to leave them behind, if a box is to heavy redistribute the items between two boxes.
Distribute your items evenly throughout your boxes.
Bagging items
If possible try to use suitcases, rucksacks and other items of luggage to pack clothes etc, these are preferable to black plastic bags which are often over filled and tear easily. If you do have to use black sacks try to use top quality ones or even garden refuse bags which are very thick.
Parking
Always ensure that there is parking available outside of your premises on the day, this may mean talking to your neighbours in advance of the move and checking that they will move if necessary or putting a bin or bag in the road to save the space. If you have meters or permit parking, make sure you have plenty of change or the required permit available to hand.
Access
It is a must to ensure that all doors, stairs, lifts and hallways are clear of obstructions. This will create a steady flow from the room to the vehicle.
Fridges and Freezers
Try not to buy any fridge or freezer food for at least two weeks before you are due to move, so nothing goes to waste, remember to defrost and drain at least 48hours before the move, appliances must be dry.
Beds / Dismantable Items / Flat Pack Furniture
If any items need to be dismantled please ensure this is done prior to your drivers arrival, please do not leave dowels and screws sticking out, they are a hazard and a danger and cause damage, please put them away in a little plastic bag and tape them to the item they came from.
